Privacy & your data
This policy explains what SproutSeek collects, why it is used, and the choices you have.
Your account
SproutSeek uses your email address to create and access your account. Your password is handled securely by our authentication provider and is not stored in the app.
Your location
Your location helps show nearby sightings, stores, maps, and plant alerts. SproutSeek uses it while you are using those features and does not track your location in the background. Locations saved for alerts remain private to your account.
Sightings and photos
The plant, store, price, quantity, notes, and approved photos you share may be visible to other SproutSeek users. Photos are compressed and automatically checked for safety and plant content before upload. Photos that do not pass the check are not stored. Accepted photos are removed after 14 days, while the sighting details remain.
Notifications
SproutSeek saves the information needed to send notifications after you turn on an alert. You can turn alerts off at any time from Saved plants or disable notification permission in your device settings.
Support messages
When you contact support, SproutSeek saves your account email, the topic you choose, and your message so the request can be reviewed and answered.
On-device storage and cookies
The app uses essential on-device storage for your sign-in session, onboarding status, and the installation identifier used to manage notifications. This information is not used for cross-app advertising or tracking. The SproutSeek website does not currently use nonessential cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers.
Service providers
SproutSeek uses service providers to operate account access, database storage, photo storage, notifications, and photo safety checks. These providers process only the information needed to perform those functions and are required to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable privacy and security obligations. SproutSeek does not sell your personal information.
How long data is kept
Sighting photos are removed after 14 days. Other account and contribution data remains while your account is active or while it is needed to operate, secure, and support SproutSeek. Deleting your account removes the live account and contributed data. Encrypted backups may retain a protected copy for up to 30 additional days before expiring.
Your choices
You can change location, camera, photo, and notification permissions in your device settings. You can edit your sightings, turn off alerts, report content, block contributors, and permanently delete your account from Profile. Email support to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
Children
SproutSeek accounts are for people age 13 and older. Children under 13 may not create an account or submit personal information. Contact support if you believe a child under 13 has provided information to SproutSeek.
